SKULL BONE HELMET

Skull bone acoustics properties in children with specific language disorders

  • The acoustic properties of the skull OF children with specific language disorders and how they might affect hearing were investigated. Broadband noise was isolated throw 2 procedures first by all tests in the audiology room and second by a tailored isolated helmet with six bone mics attached to skull gaps and spectrally analyzed using a Fast Fourier Transform and in 1/3-octave bands. Energetic peaks were found centered near 63 and 125 Hz, and all on the left side of the skull (e.g., range greater than 10 dB around 900 Hz). Acoustic patterns from each skull were subsequently compared with air and bone conduction sensory thresholds. Individual skull patterns reliably correlated with bone conduction thresholds, but not air conduction thresholds, indicating a possible mediating role of the skull to hearing.

Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder characterized by difficulties with accurate spelling, poor fluency, and decoding abilities. This study investigated the passive hearing abilities and sound conduction through skull bone resonance in dyslexic children to determine the relationship between skull and sinus hearing ability. Thirty children diagnosed with dyslexia according to DSM-5 criteria were selected, and their skull bone resonance was measured using a customized bone conduction microphone and preamp microphone affixed to the forehead. Results showed that 73.3% of the dyslexic children had abnormal sound conduction, categorized into damping (31.3%), resonance (18.2%), and rumbling (50%) abnormalities. Significant lateralization differences were found, with more abnormalities on the right side of the skull. The frontal, maxillary, and mastoid sinuses exhibited damping, resonance, and rumbling abnormalities, with rumbling being the most significant finding (38.2%). The study suggests that phonological deficits in dyslexia may be attributed to skull involvement in fine auditory processing, and the condition of skull bone cavities and sinuses might play a role in the phonological processing of dyslexic children. The findings highlight the importance of investigating skull sinus conditions as a potential factor affecting sound processing in neurodevelopmental disorders.

  • Abstract
This dissertation investigates the rise and evolution of cultural interfaces during the 1990s, and nowadays which serve as intermediaries between users and digitally encoded cultural information. The study contends that these interfaces were influenced by three primary cultural forms: cinema, print media, and human-computer interaction (HCI). The impact of cinema is evident in the incorporation of techniques such as the mobile virtual camera, rectangular framing of depicted reality, and cinematographic conventions into cultural interfaces. Print media contributes metaphors of the page, with information arranged in a rectangular space, and navigational features like tables of contents. HCI provides concepts of direct manipulation, iconic representation, overlapping windows, and dynamic menus. Interactive audio spatialization technology has become a crucial element in platforms facilitating shared immersive virtual experiences for future co-presence, remote collaboration, and entertainment applications. This research proposes a practical method for designing parametric 6-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) object-based interactive audio engines to provide the perceptually relevant binaural cues necessary for audio-visual and virtual-real congruence in Metaverse experiences. We introduce a generic egocentric rendering API for interactive 6DoF spatial audio and multi-room reverberation, focusing on auditory plausibility and computational efficiency, compatible with both physical and perceptual scene description models

  • Abstract
The Great Pyramid of Khufu has long been a subject of fascination and mystery, with recent studies suggesting that it may have had a purpose beyond serving as a tomb for the pharaoh. This article explores the cavity resonance and acoustic properties of the Great Pyramid, focusing on the King’s Chamber and its potential for free energy generation. Non-destructive techniques, such as electromagnetic transparency in the radio frequency range, have revealed previously unknown voids within the pyramid, while the golden ratio has been found in the pyramid’s dimensions. The study aims to investigate the effects of frequency, sound intensity, and wave correction on the pyramid’s cavity resonance properties. By examining the frequencies within the inner rooms, mapping sound travel, and studying the piezoelectric properties of granite, the research seeks to determine if the pyramid’s design could generate sufficient free energy to replace conventional sources. The precise functions of the King’s Chamber, Queen’s Chamber, and subterranean chamber remain unclear, but their unique acoustic properties have been noted by many visitors. The article builds upon previous work on acoustic theory and aims to provide new insights into the potential of the Great Pyramid as a source of free energy. We aim to explore the cavity resonance properties of the Great Pyramid by investigating the effects of frequency, sound intensity, and wave correction. To achieve this goal, we will conduct several studies, starting with an examination of the frequencies within the pyramid’s inner rooms and creating a map of how sound travels through these spaces. We will also study the components of granite and its ability to generate piezoelectric energy through the use of sound. Additionally, we will investigate whether it is possible to produce this sound on Earth and if it can generate free energy sufficient to replace conventional energy sources.
